Welcome to the Tyabb Primary School history website. Tyabb Primary School has served the Tyabb community as a high quality learning centre since 1890. We celebrated our centenary in 1990 and continue today as a vibrant and exciting place for children to learn and develop. |
With such a vast history, it will take us some time to fully document and so you should come back and visit us often to check on progress. The site is divided into Past, Present and Future and you can access all sections of the site through the timeline at left.
The picture that you see on this page is of our famous oak tree. It was planted in 1895 and still stands silently over our playground providing shade, shelter and a point of focus for our school and our community. The oak tree in many ways symbolises much of what we hold dear at Tyabb Primary School. Our motto, "From little things, big things grow" is indicative of the acorn and its growth and maturation into a mighty oak tree.
