Digital Technologies

Digital Technology holds great importance to the students, staff and community of Tyabb Primary. Our students have access to a wide variety of devices in every learning area to enhance and compliment the fantastic programs on offer, but to also encourage collaboration and a connection to other schools and communities. Through the use of IWB’s, classroom computers, laptops, video conferencing equipment, classroom iPads and a computer lab large enough to accommodate an entire class, Digital Technology becomes invisible throughout the school as it is integrated into every learning opportunity.

Students undergo a touch typing course to improve their awareness of the keyboard and increase typing accuracy and speed. We also have a coding course that all student from prep to year 6 participate in, learning how to problem solve set tasks and write computer programs. Our students particularly love these 2 courses.

This year we hosted a Smart Expo night which talked about new digital technologies and how to utilise these in the classroom. It was a successful event with over 60 teachers from around the Mornington Peninsula attended.
